Chelsea face the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Sunday, and are aiming to mount another big comeback to overturn the 4-1 defeat suffered last weekend.

Sonia Bompastor is looking forward to the challenge of overturning that deficit, and took the opportunity to deliver a fitness update on a key member of our squad.

Nathalie Bjorn was replaced by Naomi Girma after 81 minutes at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, and also sat out the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Kingsmeadow in midweek, raising questions about her availability to face the Spanish side.

'Nathalie is good,' said Bompastor. 'I think we'll make a decision tomorrow morning just because I want to make sure we don't take any risk. But she's doing very good.

'We're excited. It's a huge challenge. We know that. But this is an opportunity for us to show a better version of Chelsea. I felt maybe in the first leg, we didn't perform the way we wanted to perform. So this is a new opportunity for us to do a better job. And yeah, we're excited because this opportunity is, again, a big game for us playing at Stamford Bridge, so we want to go for that.'

After suffering an ACL injury back in February 2024, Mia Fishel made her return from injury at the end of March in the 2-1 league win over Manchester City.

That day, she played just three minutes, but she has slowly but surely been increasing her match fitness, and played the entire second half against Crystal Palace in midweek, scoring the final goal in that 4-0 win.

'I was really pleased for her individually, first of all, because it's always difficult to come back after a big injury,' Bompastor explained. 'She's been very working really hard to put herself in that position, to be able to start games, but also to come in and play some minutes and make an impact for the team. I think it was really good for her confidence also to score that goal.

'We were all so happy to see her celebration. Big Fish!'

Tickets are still available to support Sonia and the team against Barcelona in the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final on Sunday 27 April. You can secure your seat here.
