With the Blues returning to Women's Super League action this Sunday against Everton at Goodison Park, head coach Sonia Bompastor shared how she used the international break to reflect on the first block of the league fixtures.

We travel to Merseyside having recorded four wins from a possible four in the league. Our campaign started with a victory over Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow, before being followed up with defeats of Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Over those four wins, 15 goals have been scored by 10 different players in Bompastor's squad, while only three have been conceded.

The Blues will be looking to extend their winning run when we face the 11th-placed Toffees, but before that trip, Bompastor shared her reflections on how we have started the season in her pre-match press conference with the media.

'That is always the right time during the international break to reflect on the first block of the season,' she said. 'We had different meetings in the staff to reflect our start.

'In terms of results, that's a good start. In terms of performance, there is always room for improvement. We had some good learnings from that. We shared our thoughts with the players, we set again our expectations for the second block and we're ready to go again on Sunday.'

Bompastor added: 'We are in an environment where we are able to be honest and having open conversations. That is really important if you want to move forward and to make some progress.'

A busy November sees the Blues take on Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the WSL, with home and away clashes against Celtic in the UEFA Women's Champions League also upcoming this month. And Bompastor insists her squad will be ready and raring for each opponent.

'I'm a positive person and I always look at the block and the games in a really exciting way,' our head coach said. 'When you play football, that is fun.

'I'm passionate about football. I just want to enjoy it. When you look at the next block, it's about having some great games to play in the league and the Champions League games against great opponents. We just want to go out there and enjoy the moment.

'I look at the games as a block and longer term. Part of the job is to be able to manage the squad through all these games, especially when you play three games a week, so with this, I work more with the longer term. When you have the big picture, you focus more on the details and go game by game.'
