The 19-year-old, who made her World Cup debut for Japan this summer, has been recalled from a loan spell with Swedish side Hammarby IF having sustained a shoulder injury.

Following a review by the Chelsea medical team, Maika has undergone surgery and is expected to be sidelined for a significant period of time.
