Cole Palmer’s brilliant lob against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been nominated for the August Premier League Goal of the Month award.

The forward’s place on the shortlist for Premier League Player of the Month had already been announced earlier today, and it has now been revealed that the 22-year-old is in the running for a second August honour.

His fantastic strike in the 6-2 away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers has been nominated as one of the best in the top flight during the first month of the season, taking his place on the eight-player shortlist for Premier League Goal of the Month.

With the scores tied at 1-1 shortly before half-time at Molineux, Robert Sanchez’s quick thinking saw him release a long ball towards Nicolas Jackson, who did well to find Palmer in the middle. There was still plenty for Cole to do, though, as a perfectly weighted first-time effort chipped keeper Jose Sa to nestle in the back of the net and give us the lead.

The Blues forward is joined on the shortlist by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (Wolves), Yves Bissouma (Tottenham Hotspur), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Luis Diaz (Liverpool), Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City) and Yukinari Sugawara (Southampton).

You have until midday on Monday 9 September to cast your vote for Palmer’s strike at Molineux to be named Premier League Goal of the Month. The winner will be announced at 1pm on Friday 13 September.
