Robert Sanchez’s incredible injury-time fingertip stop to deny Jota Silva of Nottingham Forest is among the nominees for the Premier League’s best save in October.
The Blues and the Reds played out a pulsating 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge at the start of the month and, in the end, each side had chances to take all three points in stoppage time with both goalkeepers making fine saves.
The best of the bunch came from Sanchez, who miraculously kept out Jota Silva’s goal-bound header when it looked destined to nestle in the far corner with a fine hand to palm the ball behind for a corner to preserve a point.
That save ensures the Spaniard is among the nominees for the Premier League’s Save of the Month award and he will go up against five other goalkeepers, including his opposite number from that game against Forest, Matz Sels.
The remaining nominees are Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace, Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen, Bournemouth stopper Mark Travers and Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Voting closes at midday on Monday, November 4 and you can vote for Sanchez here.
