We can today confirm that Women’s team assistant coach Tanya Oxtoby has left the club to fulfil the vacant senior women’s manager role at Northern Ireland.

The Australian coach moved to Chelsea at the start of the 2021/22 season, following a three-and-a-half-year spell at Bristol City Women, where she held the position of Women’s team manager.

Oxtoby arrived with a wealth of experience having featured on the pitch for a number of Australian clubs, most notably at Perth Glory in the W-League.

She joined Women’s general manager Paul Green at Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2012, where she played against Chelsea in Emma Hayes’ first-ever game in charge.

After hanging up her boots, the defender transitioned into coaching with Notts County Ladies, ahead of joining Birmingham City Ladies as assistant coach in 2017 and then moving to Bristol City.

During her time at Chelsea, Oxtoby helped add further silverware to our trophy cabinet with two Women’s Super League titles and three FA Cup triumphs under her belt.

Everyone at Chelsea wishes to sincerely thank Tanya for her service to the club, and we wish her every success in her new role with Northern Ireland.
