Ted Curd saved a penalty which ensured England came away with a point from their last game of the group stage at the European Under-17 Championship, against Switzerland.

Kiano Dyer, Somto Boniface and Ted Curd were all given the nod to start today and fellow Chelsea Academy player Michael Golding also featured in the match, as a second-half substitute.

With 20 minutes to go, young Blues keeper Curd emerged as the hero when he made a confident save low to his right to deny Switzerland's Winsley Boteli Mokango from the penalty spot.

Curd made several other key saves too, to keep the score goalless, and it would finish in a 0-0 draw. Crucially, that was enough for England to finish top of Group D after winning their opening two games against Croatia and the Netherlands.

The Young Lions will now face the holders France in the quarter-final stages of the European Under-17 Championship. That match will be played on Saturday 27 May, with the kick-off time still to be decided.
