With the first international break of the season approaching its end, we caught up with Frankie Runham to discuss his time as a new scholar so far and his life off the pitch.

Frankie Runham is one of many of this season's new scholars who have been in and around the Under-18s squad prior to the current campaign.

The young attacker was on the scoresheet in the last game before the international break, when Hassan Sulaiman's side were 4-2 winners against Barnsley in the Under-18 Premier League Cup match.

Runham is determined to succeed and exceed expectations, despite being a first-year scholar, as he has huge aspirations for his career, and answered questions about those and other subjects during the international break.

What are your biggest strengths?

'I like taking set-pieces and striking the ball. I think I am good at getting shots on target and I want to be consistently testing the keeper with my shots. I work hard and I am a good passer of the ball.'

What are you looking forward to developing more this season?

'I want to score more goals. I want to get into the box and finish off chances because, at the end of the day, there is no better feeling than scoring goals for your team in my opinion.'

What is your favourite position on the pitch?

'I think in all the positions that I have played in, I enjoy playing as a No10 the most. You see more of the game. You are able to make things happen, whether it be assisting or scoring, and I think I showcase my talents best there. However, I am always happy to play wherever the coach thinks I can affect the game the most.'

Who would you say you look up to?

'I really like Reece James, more so because he came from the Academy and he made it to the first team. I want to do that that too. It is a big inspiration for us younger boys to see guys from the Academy make it over the road.'

Who are your role models?

'My parents. They have been taking me to games from so young and I am just so grateful for the things that they have done. I continue to work hard so I can make them proud.'

What do you do in your free time?

'I like to spend time with friends and family really. There are other sports that interest me too, so I stay active by doing other things, but really I just like being with friends.'
