In recent meetings with the club’s Fan Advisory Board (FAB), fan representatives posed a series of questions they are commonly asked by other supporters. Over the next few weeks, we will be answering those questions in a new series here…
The first edition of ‘The FAB asks the club…’ deals with mobile ticketing – what is the club’s plan for this innovation?
Areas dealt with include:
When do Chelsea plan to introduce digital ticketing?
Will digital ticketing run in parallel with the existing process or will Chelsea go ‘big bang’?
Will digital ticketing be mandatory for all or will there be exceptions for some supporters?
What will be the procedure for lost tickets or lost/dead phones once digital ticketing is introduced?
Here are answers…
You may have read that during the 2023/24 season, alongside existing options to access Stamford Bridge, including season ticket cards and print-at-home tickets.
Some supporters may have had an email from the club asking them to ensure their details match on both the Official Chelsea App and their club ticketing account. This is to ensure you can access your mobile ticket via the Official Chelsea App.
Introducing this while season ticket cards and print-at-home tickets still exist gives our supporters time to become used to using mobile tickets and ensures the club can identify any issues that exist and fix them quickly. For this season,
fans can continue using a season ticket card or print-at-home tickets or access the stadium via a mobile ticket.
A mobile ticket is an electronic version of your physical season ticket card or print-at-home ticket, which enables you to scan into Stamford Bridge at the turnstiles using your phone via a QR code. All games included in your season ticket, or any games you have purchased if you are a Chelsea FC member or single matchgoer, will be automatically available in the Mobile Tickets section of your account on the Official Chelsea App.
Tickets are available offline, so fans do not need to rely on phone signal or wifi within the stadium. As long as the accounts are linked and a supporter has logged into the app in the period between purchasing tickets and the match itself, the tickets will then be accessible offline.
The club recognises that some supporters may not have a smartphone, or they have specific access needs which means a mobile ticket is not an option. In these cases, the club will work with individuals to ensure they can access Stamford Bridge.
As with season ticket cards and print-at-home tickets, the club understands that devices can be lost, or phone batteries can die. If this is the case, supporters should visit our on-site ticket office.
