Hello, USA! After a day of travelling on Saturday, the Blues woke up for the first time in New Jersey on Sunday ready to get to work…

Our first full day Stateside saw the players begin with breakfast at the hotel. A team meeting followed and a familiar face was back amongst the squad having spent most of this year undertaking her injury rehabilitation in the U.S.

Not only was Mia Fishel reunited with her teammates, she finally got her hands on her Women’s Super League winners medal. General manager Paul Green presented the forward with her prize, which was met by applause from her fellow Blues.

Onwards to training where Sonia Bompastor lead her final session before taking charge of her first game as Chelsea head coach against NJ/NY Gotham tomorrow.

It started in the gym and then saw the Chelsea players take to the grass at Pingry School for a one hour session. Warming-up was the first focus, before a series of drills in smaller and then larger groups.

‘Good work,’ was one note of feedback provided by Bompastor throughout training, which was watched by a number of invited guests, including two players from PHWL New York, a women’s professional ice hockey team.

After meeting the guests and signing shirts and footballs, there was time for another gym session for a number of Blues before heading back to the hotel for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, Aggie Beever-Jones, Nathalie Bjorn and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd headed back to Pingry School for a community event which also saw players from tomorrow’s opponents Gotham attend.

Two such players were former Chelsea defender Jess Carter and goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger.

At the event, pupils from Pingry School had the chance to meet our Blues trio where they had time to chat with them and ask questions about their career in professional football so far.
