The Blues are in the USA for our pre-season tour and we can take you closer to the action from camp with the latest instalment of our daily tour diaries…
The 5th Stand app and the official Chelsea website have been granted exclusive access in Los Angeles as Thomas Tuchel and his players step up preparations for the new campaign.
Here’s a look at what happened on day five of the tour…
Sterling signing confirmed
There was an early start at the team hotel, as Raheem Sterling checked in to complete his move from Manchester City.
The England international, who has agreed a five-year deal to sign for Chelsea, flew over to America to join up with his new team-mates in Los Angeles and was taking into the city to pose for photographs ahead of the official unveiling of his transfer.
Then it was time for some breakfast before the attacker boarded the team bus heading for the first of two training sessions.
Sterling was introduced to his new team-mates by Tuchel before getting straight to work with a number of running drills and fun exercises.
Broja arrives at camp
Sterling wasn’t the only new arrival at training today, as the Blues welcomed Armando Broja into the group.
The Albanian international didn’t originally fly out with the team but has since checked-in at the team’s base in Los Angeles and will be hoping to gain some pre-season minutes before our time Stateside is up.
The striker looked sharp in his first session back and caught the eye with some tidy finishes, as well as being in the winning side in the skill challenges set by Tuchel and his staff.
Taking in the sights of LA!
Following the morning session at UCLA, the group split for a variety of activities in the afternoon, including a visit to the Dodger Stadium where the likes of Edouard Mendy and Jorginho took part in batting practise.
Unsurprisingly for someone with such flawless technique and distribution, the Italian international proved a dab hand with the baseball bat, impressing his team-mates with a string of sweet connections.
Another group including Kepa Arrizabalaga and Timo Werner headed up to the Hollywood Hills for a visit to Universal Studios, where they toured some iconic sets from films including Jaws, War of the Worlds and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.
