Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the USA is drawing to a close ahead of our final fixture against Arsenal in Orlando…
The Blues sign off Stateside this weekend with a London derby on the east coast and there has been plenty going on in preparation of that fixture both on and off the field.
The 5th Stand app and the official Chelsea website have been granted exclusive access throughout the trip, and we will be on hand every step of the way to keep you updated at what Thomas Tuchel and his players are getting up to in our tour diaries.
As our series from camp continues, we pick out the best bits from day 13…
Riding high
Some of the players and backroom staff utilised their Thursday morning off by visiting Universal Studios for a few hours of downtime and thrill seeking on the rides.
Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Cesar Azpilicueta were among those who made the short drive to the renowned attraction, testing their nerve on The Incredible Hulk Coaster and Jurassic World VelociCoaster before sampling the delights of Harry Potter’s wonderful wizarding world.
It was only a whistlestop tour of the giant site due to afternoon training commitments but a few hours of fun was certainly had by all.
Training resumes
It was back to Osceola Heritage Park in the afternoon as the squad returned to training following our draw in Charlotte the previous evening.
Mixed skies above brought the temperature down before proceedings got underway, with Thomas Tuchel and his staff putting the players through a series of lively drills in the early evening sunset.
Timo Werner and Azpilicueta were back with the group having missed Wednesday’s match action.
Legends unite
The Orlando leg of this USA tour has seen our contingent of Champions League-winning Chelsea managers double as Roberto Di Matteo joins us for a series of events, including an evening with supporters in Charlotte before our most recent match.
The Italian’s latest engagement was at Universal Studios for the Florida Cup All-Star, a five-a-side exhibition featuring legends of the game like Di Matteo, Denilson and Rivaldo alongside celebrities.
Our former midfielder's team were beaten in the semi-finals but delighted those onlookers present with the flicks and tricks you'd expect from a collection of talented superstars.
