The Blues are in the USA for our pre-season tour and we can take you closer to the action from camp with the latest instalment of our daily tour diaries…
The 5th Stand app and the official Chelsea website have been granted exclusive access in Los Angeles as Thomas Tuchel and his players step up preparations for the new campaign.
Here’s a look at what happened on day four of the tour…
Work continues
It was a grey and hazy start to the morning in California as the sun took a while to burn its way through the clouds. Training was once again held at the UCLA campus a short drive from the team hotel, where our 29-man squad were put through their paces by Tuchel and his coaching staff.
A mixture of fitness work and drills with the ball were involved before the session ended with a series of small-sided games. After that, the lads headed indoors to the university’s impressive gym facility to focus on strength and conditioning exercises.
Foundation event
Elsewhere in the city, Joe Cole joined the Chelsea Foundation in south central Los Angeles to see up close the work of the Brotherhood Crusade.
Located on a former piece of wasteland that had been a hotbed of trouble and community tension, the project has brought people from all walks of life together through the power of football.
Cole spent time in the classroom chatting with children involved in the initiative and taking their questions before joining in their session outside.
