Thomas Tuchel has spoken of his admiration for the work Graham Potter has done at Brighton, believing the Seagulls deserve plenty more points for their efforts.
The Blues welcome Potter’s side to Stamford Bridge this evening for yet another festive fixture, just three days on from our Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The three points at Villa Park, which came courtesy of two Jorginho penalties either side of a Romelu Lukaku header, ensured we remain hot on the heels of Manchester City and level with Liverpool at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Brighton have slipped to midtable in the Premier League after a run of 11 games without a win, before their Boxing Day victory over Brentford got them back on track. Tuchel, however, believes the Seagulls have deserved more from their recent run and has nothing but praise for the project on the South Coast.
‘I like them a lot,’ Tuchel said of Brighton. ‘I think it's a great club.
‘They have a great coach and it's a great approach they have to how they play the game. It is clear when you switch on the TV or when you watch them you clearly see an idea of how they want to play. It's very, very demanding to play against them.
‘They play with a lot of confidence. They have many good individual players, they have a top coach in Graham Potter and they are a tough side to beat. I know they struggle a bit with the results recently and I actually think they deserve in general a bit more than they have.
‘They create much more than they have actually have on points, but it's very demanding to play against them because they play very fluid, they adapt their system to your system, they attack high and they have a lot of individual quality, and that's why it's a tough one.’
