Our Under-18s were 4-2 winners in their game this afternoon against Birmingham City. Schoolboy debutant Kiano Dyer scored the pick of the bunch to give us our 14th win of the season.

It did not take long for Birmingham CIty to take the lead as Brendan Khela showed nice footwork in the box to give himself a yard of space and unleash a shot that flew past Ted Curd in goal.

There were a number of first-half chances to peg the home team back as Louis Flower had a couple to get on the scoresheet. Ronnie Stutter arguably had the best opportunity as he was found in the box but his sweeping effort was saved well by keeper Brad Mayo.

The second half saw us raise the intensity and we found the breakthrough from the penalty spot as Alfie Gilchrist was fouled in the area. Leo Castledine stepped up and delivered to draw us level.

We took the lead just after the hour mark as a lovely floated through ball from Harrison Murray-Capbell released Stutter, who showed good awareness to settle himself and finish past the keeper.

With our young Blues seemingly in control of proceedings, a mistake at the back from keeper Curd allowed Khela to pounce and roll the ball into an empty net six minutes from time.

This could have deflated Ed Brand's team but instead they showed great fight and a free-flowing move released Luke Badley-Morgan, who whipped in a terrific flat cross which Stutter turned in despite pressure from the Birmingham defence.

There was enough time remaining for second-half substitute and debutant Dyer to get on the scoresheet as the ball broke towards him on the edge of the area and he unleashed a powerful strike which found the top corner of the net. It was a huge moment for a player who has spent the majority of this season with the Under-15 team, while the three points cement our position in third in the Under-18 Premier League southern section with two games remaining.

Supporters have the chance to watch our youngsters in action in the Under-18 Premier League Cup final when we take on Fulham at Craven Cottage next Wednesday 4 May. Tickets are currently available - click here for more information.
