Our young Blues ended the season in style with an impressive victory over Brighton as Ronnie Stutter led the goalscoring charge with a brace.
We had to come from a goal down as Brighton took the lead through Joe McKnight but we responded with Stutter's strikes either side of goals from Tyrique George and Donnell McNeilly.
Against a tricky Brighton side the game started with a fast tempo.
The Seagulls edged the early proceedings territorially and with chances despite goalkeeper Max Merrick having nothing to save.
Louis Flower had a decent opening for the young Blues, but he could not divert his header goalwards after Tyrique George’s blocked shot.
With the half fizzling out, the home side were awarded a penalty when striker McKnight was adjudged to have been fouled in the area. He stepped up to take it but missed as Merrick saved, but the striker was quickest to the loose ball and made no mistake at the second time of asking.
Hassan Sulaiman's boys responded less than two minutes later, and it was our striker Stutter who got the goal as he did well to compose himself in the box and smash the ball past the goalkeeper after a nice cut-back from Somto Boniface.
Stutter could have had a second just before the half-time whistle but a good block on his goalbound effort meant that both sides went into the break all-square.
We started the better of the two sides in the second period and we made our presence felt with our second of the game. George was given time and space at the edge of the box and he took that invitation, finding the bottom corner of the net.
It was soon 3-1 and McNeilly got in on the action as he struck a left-footed shot which seemed like it would be saved but the goalkeeper failed to grasp as the balled squirmed under him, extending our lead.
We had enough time for a fourth and it was captain Stutter who grabbed it with an emphatic finish to add gloss to a fantastic second-half performance.
That was how the game would end as we finish the season in fourth place following today’s impressive victory.
