Our young Blues made it two wins on the bounce in the Under-18s PL as a brace from Donnell McNeilly and a winner from Ato Ampah gave us the win in a highly entertaining game against our London foes...

Donnell McNeilly fresh off his brace last weekend added to that with another pair today. But despite the two goal cushion, Arsenal clawed their way back into the game with two quality goals.

However Ato Ampah came on to score the winner as he was in the right place at the right time giving our young Blues all three points.

With London derbies across the board for our Under-18s and 21s, as well as for Emma Hayes and Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues respectively, it was Hassan Sulaiman’s boys who kicked things off with a morning fixture against Arsenal at Cobham.

Following last week’s win against Norwich, the Under-18s were looking to build on that emphatic victory.

We started the game slowly however and it was Arsenal who were keeping the possession and flirting with our penalty box.

They should have taken the lead through captain Harrison Dudziak as he pounced on a loose clearance from Max Merrick but he miscued his volley with the goal gaping as it somehow hit the crossbar.

Despite the Arsenal pressure, Travis Akomeah’s long ball found Frankie Runham who did well to control in the box, but he was fouled by the goalkeeper and the referee awarded a penalty.

McNeilly stepped up and dispatched, continuing his good goalscoring form.

The Gunners should have levelled though as Chido Martin-Obi dispossessed Akomeah and was through on goal, but Merrick stood tall to save from the striker.

We doubled our lead in the second period, and it was McNeilly again who grabbed it with an instinctive finish following a fine assist from Josh Acheampong.

Michal Rosiak halved their deficit against the run of play with a fine free-kick on the edge of the 18-yard area.

Ten minutes later, as the Gunners piled on the pressure, they drew level as Josh Nichols fired from distance, finding the top corner to undo our hard work.

Two minutes after their goal though, we responded and went ahead again and it was through second-half substitute Ampah. He was quickest to react to Runham’s free-kick which was parried into a dangerous area and bundled home.

There was enough time for Mhueka to be through on goal deep into stoppage time, but the striker’s shot was saved.

Ayden Heaven received his marching orders late on but ultimately, Sulaiman’s side would take all the points in this one as they make it two wins on the bounce with a win in the London derby.
