Glenn van der Kraan joins Chelsea Football Club today as our Academy technical director.
He will lead our youth development programme alongside Jack Francis (pictured top left), who has become the Academy’s football operations director.
‘We are very pleased to make this announcement as Glenn brings his vast experience and track record for success in youth development into his new position at Chelsea,’ said sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.
‘Alongside the vital continuity and experience that Jack brings to his new role, we are excited about this new leadership and the potential within the Academy moving forward.
‘The Academy is fundamental to the plan for the future of the club, with Glenn and Jack now in place to steer the operation alongside the immense expertise already within the Academy building at Cobham.’
Van der Kraan (pictured top right) was previously at Manchester City where he was head of coaching in their youth development system. Prior to his four years in north-west England, he worked at Feyenoord in his native Netherlands for nearly a decade, progressing from youth lead coach to a head of coaching role. He has also worked as a youth coach in Belgium at Anderlecht.
He starts working at Chelsea immediately. Welcome to the club, Glenn!
