Having joined the club at the Under-8 age group, the talents of Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George have long been known to those inside Chelsea. And on Wednesday, the duo's transition from Academy to first team was made official.
The two 18-year-olds were part of the first team squad that travelled to the US for our pre-season tour in the summer and have been training regularly since then, with both featuring in the Conference League and EFL Cup this season.
George signed a long-term contract in the summer and he was joined in committing his long-term future to the Blues this week by Acheampong, after it was confirmed today the defender had penned a deal until 2029.
And the good news kept coming for the pair as this afternoon they were officially welcomed into the first team squad on a permanent basis.
After a few nice words from head coach Maresca, the rest of the squad applauded the duo as they received the personalised signs for their lockers.
