The international break provides those Chelsea players not away with their country two uninterrupted weeks to prepare for the visit of Arsenal in the Premier League. And a strong group remain at Cobham with Mauricio Pochettino and his staff.

Chelsea went into this international break having built momentum; Saturday's 4-1 victory at Burnley making it three wins in a row for the Blues in all competitions. Speaking after that game, Pochettino outlined his plans for the break with the players left at his disposal.

'We will spend it trying to improve players, trying to recover players from injury,' he said. 'We have two weeks which we are going to spend working at the training ground.

'Of course it’s a different mood to the break last month because to go into it with a victory is much better. But we will keep pushing and working hard to try to be better next month.'

Pochettino will have two of his most experienced players available at Cobham this week: Raheem Sterling, who had a hand in all four of our goals at Burnley, plus veteran defender Thiago Silva.

Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Deivid Washington will also be hard at work at Cobham, as will Carney Chukwuemeka as he continues to recover his fitness following injury. The 19-year-old was been named among the substitutes on Saturday for the first time since going off at West Ham in August.

Similarly, Reece James will be building up his strength ahead of our next Premier League fixture against Arsenal on Saturday 21 October, with Pochettino having confirmed he should be available for that game following his own injury.

'We are really happy with the way that Reece is recovering after his injury and he’s doing well,' added our head coach. 'He is available so after the international break when his suspension is over he will have the possibility of being involved.'

As Pochettino outlined, the second part of this week's work at Cobham will be attempting to get our other injured players out of the treatment room and onto the training pitch, or at least as close as possible before we return to match action.

Of those, defenders Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah are already in the process of rejoining team training, while Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Marcus Bettinelli and Romeo Lavia continue their rehabilitation.
