Enzo Maresca has named three players from our Under-21s' squad among the substitutes for tonight's League Cup tie against Barrow. You can find out more about the trio right here.

Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George and Deivid Washington are all included in the matchday squad for tonight's third round tie at Stamford Bridge, with George potentially making his first senior outing at the Bridge after coming on away at Servette in the Conference League.

Here is an introduction to all three of the Under-21 players in the senior squad this evening...

Josh Acheampong

Josh Acheampong first joined our development centre programme as an Under-8 and can play in multiple positions across the back line, with experience as a central defender, a full-back and at wing-back.

In 2023/24 he featured for the Chelsea Under-21s as well as the Under-18s and played an important role in the winning of the U18 Premier League southern title.

At the start of 2024 he signed his first professional contract. In the final month of the 2023/24 season he made his men's first-team debut when brought on for the closing minutes of a win at home to Tottenham.

In the summer of 2024 he was part of the senior squad that went to the United States for pre-season.

Deivid Washington

Deivid Washington signed from Brazilian side Santos in August 2023, following a breakout season in South America. He can play anywhere across the line in the final third but predominately operates as a striker.

Deivid's first goal for the club came for our Under-21s, in a Premier League 2 victory at Manchester City. He also scored twice from close range in a cup game at the same level to beat Leeds but between those games, in October 2023, he made his men's first-team debut when brought on towards the end of a Premier League match against Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

In January of that season, he played the final quarter-of-an-hour of an FA Cup win over Preston, and followed that up with goals in Under-21 games versus Middlesbrough and Arsenal. His third men's first-team substitute appearance of the season came at the very end of a home win against Everton, with a run of three games on the bench following.

Three more goals at Under-21 level also followed, including in a PL2 play-off semi-final defeat at Spurs. Deivid finished his Under-21s season with 10 goals from 15 starts and two substitute appearances.

Tyrique George

Tyrique George is a tricky and exciting player who joined us as an Under-8 after coming through our development centre programme.

The pacy and direct winger scored eye-catching goals in the title-winning Under-18s' 2023/24 season and for the Under-21s. Across both age groups he netted 20 times, eight for the Under-21s. He played predominantly on the left wing but can also feature as an attacking midfielder.

Towards the end of the season he made the senior side's bench on three occasions and in the summer of 2024 travelled to the United States as part of our pre-season tour.

He made his debut for the men's first team when he came on during the second half of the UEFA Conference League play-off match away in Switzerland against Servette.
