Chelsea Foundation recently welcomed William Watters to Stamford Bridge for an unforgettable experience, as part of a matchday wish.
The 14-year-old and his family were treated to tickets for for the fixture versus Leicester City in the FA Cup. William joined the player arrival experience, was granted access to the press room and watched the team warm up from pitch side.
William said: ‘I want to share my massive thank you to Chelsea Foundation for the fantastic hospitality service. Meeting the players as they got off the team bus was a mind-blowing experience. My legs were shaking as it was amazing to see all my favourite players and the staff that I always only see on TV. To see the press room in action was super cool and a big shout-out to the kitchen crew for the delicious brunch!'
The excitement truly kicked in when William got a glimpse of the team sheet fresh off the printer, which he described as ‘epic’. Following that came the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk out of the famous Stamford Bridge tunnel to watch the team warm up for the match, before being greeted by some members of the squad. He also had the opportunity to hold the official match ball.
‘Seeing the team sheet straight out after being printed was epic and walking out of tunnel before the game after the keepers was extraordinary,’ he said.
‘Watching the warm-up pitch side, holding the match ball and meeting Enzo Fernandez was the most surreal and breathtaking experience. Also seeing Lee Parker was lovely after watching him for many years on Chelsea’s channels. It was so cool seeing all of the players and to be able to have conversations with Mauricio Pochettino, Thiago Silva and Marcus Bettinelli was extraordinary.’
The day culminated with the best possible outcome for William, a 4-2 victory for Chelsea, leading him to add: ‘Watching the game and a fantastic win was amazing!’
