Chelsea Women’s eye-catching 8-0 victory at Leicester last weekend grabbed the attention of the League Managers Association to the degree that they have given it their Performance of the Week award.

A panel comprising of Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry selected the result at the King Power Stadium from all the games played in the past week in the men’s Football League, the Women’s Super League and the Women’s Championship.

In the match against Leicester, which ensured Emma Hayes’s side top the WSL, the goals were shared around. Two were scored by Jessie Fleming and two by Fran Kirby, and there was one apiece for Guro Reiten, Niamh Charles, Sam Kerr and Bethany England. Reiten’s contribution extended to four assists as well as her goal.

It was a great way for Hayes to celebrate her 300th game in charge of Chelsea Women, a victory made even more special by this LMA award.

Our men's team won this award back in April for a 6-0 Premier League victory over Southampton.
